Yes You Are was one of the earliest songs written for The Unseen and employs a type of wordplay in the lyrics used by biblical writers.

Yeshua is one of the traditional Hebrew renditions of the name Jesus.

In the bible, the writers will often take words that sound like other words and play with them to include deeper meaning to readers who understand the original language. In modern times, puns are an example of this type of wordplay.

The main hook of the song is ‘Yes You are’. As I am singing truths about the Godhead I am affirming it with the words ‘Yes You are’ after each statement. The words “Yes You are” also sound like the Hebrew name of Jesus, Yeshua.

I’m not trying to be humorous, I’m drawing out a double meaning about the divinity of Jesus. I’m also creating a space for fluidity in the lyrics so people can sing ‘Yes You are’ or ‘Yeshua’ in a worship setting.

Musically, Yes You Are moves into alternative rock territory but has a distinctly cinematic atmosphere through the use of ethnic percussion and ethereal voices. The song seems to embody the enigmatic mystery of the Godhead as well as the grand beauty of the gospel.
